Learned computer programs for teaching/training students and colleagues
Provided counsel to students regarding academic and personal concerns
Guided learners to the development of essential academic skills and increased confidence.
Developed course content, visual support, and other learning materials
Earned Provost’s Part-Time Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching, Spring 2010
Managed course delivery in the classroom, online, and with other media to ensure student engagement
Scored student essays using a scoring rubric, applying scores consistently across varied prompts
Educated as many as 60 students per semester, improving their public speaking and writing skills
Supported the department of English & Theater faculty, staff, and students
Represented the department at University functions
Managed and edited Works Cited, a bi-annual newsletter about the department's faculty, students, and alumni (this newsletter is still part of the University website)
Prepared promotional materials and season brochures for the Theater department's performances
Planned, coordinated, and ran the first year writing placement exams for all incoming students
Planned, coordinated, and facilitated the University Honors Program events and academic programs
Organized and ran a national conference: Multi-Ethnic Literature of the United States (MELUS): Ethnic Transformation in the Self and the City. More information is available on the Education page of this site
Designed and maintained the department's web presence on the University website. You can view some of my contributions here.
Implemented and developed the popular "Bus to Broadway" program that ran for several years, growing to 2 full bus loads per semester
